DIRECTOR

Dr. William S. Harrison is a Detroit-based conductor, lyric baritone, pianist, educator, ethnomusicologist, and pastoral musician whose career spans more than two decades of artistic leadership. During the 2026–2027 season, he begins his inaugural season as Artistic Director of the Troy Community Chorus, bringing to the ensemble a commitment to musical excellence, thoughtful programming, and community-centered music-making.

Dr. Harrison serves as Director of Vocal Music at Cass Technical High School, where he conducts the school’s choral ensembles and leads a comprehensive program in vocal and keyboard studies. Under his direction, Cass Tech choirs have earned Excellent ratings at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association Choral Festival and received a Silver Medal at the 2026 WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Orlando.

He is also the founder and artistic director of the William S. Harrison Chorale and Music Director and Organist at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Detroit. His work as a conductor and scholar is particularly devoted to African American sacred music, Black Catholic worship, and the preservation and performance of music emerging from the African American experience. He has conducted school, church, community, and professional ensembles and made his international recital debut in Rome in 2022.

Dr. Harrison holds a Doctor of Worship Studies, with scholarly interests in sacred music, worship, and the cultural traditions that shape communal song. Across the classroom, concert stage, and sanctuary, his work is guided by the conviction that choral music can cultivate artistic discipline, preserve cultural memory, strengthen community, and create a place where every voice belongs.

ACCOMPANIST

Playing the piano and organ has been an important part of Min’s life since she was six years old. She majored in organ performance at Yeon-Sei University in Seoul, South Korea. From 1985 to 1990, she accompanied the World Vision Korea Children’s Choir.

In 1990, Min visited the United States for the first time and played at Carnegie Hall as an organist when her Young-Nak Presbyterian Church from Seoul had a concert tour in North America. In 1997, she won 3rd place in an organ playing competition at the 37th Annual Conference on Organ Music, held at the University of Michigan School of Music.

Currently, Min is an organist/pianist at First United Methodist Church in Warren.
